The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has released the names of 18 inmates who fled from the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre in Niger State, sparking significant security concerns.
A total of 119 inmates escaped from the facility on April 24, 2024, following severe damage caused by relentless downpour that breached the perimeter fence. While 10 inmates were recaptured the next day, and three more later that same day, a total of 23 escapees have been apprehended as of June 6, 2024, according to NCoS Spokesperson, Abubakar Umar.
As of June 15, 2024, the NCoS website lists details for only 18 out of the 96 remaining fugitives. The names of these inmates include:
